Woodside and Legeneering stronger together
One example of a small business that has grown with Woodside's support is Legeneering (Aust) Pty Ltd, a Western Australian company with ties to the ship building industry. When Woodside first engaged Legeneering at the end of 2008 for a small steel fabrication activity for a floating production storage offtake (FPSO) vessel, Legeneering had no experience in oil and gas.
This relationship has grown significantly year on year, from the first order in 2008 that was only a few thousand dollars to the recent multi-million dollar award of a framework agreement for general maintenance services of Woodside-operated FPSOs.
This is a good example of a how an SME can capitalise on opportunities presented by companies such as Woodside, working together with the government through initiatives and grants to develop and grow their business.
Legeneering has benefitted from a Federal Government sponsored initiative, Resource Industry Supply Chain Index (RISCI), to assist small and medium businesses to grow their capability and market readiness for participation in the resources sector. As part of this journey, Legeneering has developed a strategic plan that has enabled them to expand their services to other industry clients.
