Submission to the senate committee on policy and process to reduce red tape
25 October 2018
The Business Council has consistently advocated for all governments to apply sound regulation making processes based on evidence and rigorous analysis and early consultation with stakeholders. Our submission to the Select Committee on Red Tape makes recommendations for improving regulation-making, reforming existing regulations and lifting the performance of regulators.
The cumulative burden of regulation on business in Australia from all three tiers of government continues to grow apace. The costs of poorly designed regulation are ultimately borne by the community through lower wage growth, higher consumer prices and less economic activity.
